Tiger Woods Pleads Guilty to Reckless Driving in DUI Case

Tiger Woods pleaded guilty to reckless driving on Wednesday in his Florida DUI case, months after initially pleading not guilty to two misdemeanor charges.

As part of the plea change at the Martin County Courthouse, Woods agreed to a five-year suspension of his driver's license and a $1,000 fine. He was seen smiling during the hearing. Woods had previously pleaded not guilty to charges of DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test.

His legal team planned to hold a press conference Wednesday morning to address the plea.

The case stems from an incident in which Woods' Land Rover clipped a truck and rolled onto its side. According to an arrest report, Woods was traveling at high speed on a beachside residential road with a 30 mph limit and caused $5,000 in damage to the truck he hit.

Woods was not injured. He told a deputy at the scene that he had been looking down at his phone and changing the radio station at the time of the collision, the report said. Deputies noted that Woods appeared impaired. He agreed to a Breathalyzer test, which registered zero alcohol, but refused to submit to a urine test.

Woods also told police he had taken "a few" prescription medications, according to the arrest report. Two pills later identified as the opioid hydrocodone were found in his pants pocket.

Woods was arrested at the scene and has now pleaded guilty to the reckless driving charge.
