Grisham's Two Homers Power Yankees Past Mariners 10-5

Trent Grisham homered twice and hit a go-ahead double in the seventh inning as the New York Yankees rallied from an early deficit to beat the Seattle Mariners 10-5 on Wednesday night.

Rookie Spencer Jones drove in three runs in his second start batting third, including a two-run double in the third and a tying double in the fifth. Grisham went deep off starter Bryce Miller in the fifth to even the score at 5 after the Yankees had trailed by three.

Grisham's double off reliever Gabe Speier scored rookie George Lombard Jr. during a three-run seventh inning that put New York ahead. He added a two-run homer off Nick Davila in the eighth to finish with four RBIs from the leadoff spot — his ninth career multi-homer game and fifth three-hit game this season.

Ben Rice followed Grisham's tiebreaking double with an RBI single, and Jazz Chisholm Jr. drew a bases-loaded walk to make it 8-5 after the Mariners intentionally walked Heliot Ramos.

Randy Arozarena hit a two-run homer and Julio Rodríguez added a solo shot off Yankees starter Will Warren in the first inning. Dominic Canzone also homered, and Josh Naylor drove in a run, giving Seattle a 5-3 lead before New York's comeback.

The Mariners have lost six straight for the first time since May 2022 and fell to 56-65, nine games under .500 for the season. Paul Blackburn (4-2) picked off Naylor to end the seventh, and Brent Headrick struck out the side in the eighth for New York.

Warren allowed five runs and six hits over four-plus innings, tying a career high by giving up three home runs. Miller permitted five runs and seven hits in six innings for Seattle.

The two teams close out the series Thursday afternoon, with Seattle's Logan Gilbert facing New York's Max Fried.
