Cooluli Recalls 250,000 Minifridges Over Fire, Burn Risks

Cooluli has recalled roughly 250,000 of its minifridges due to fire and burn hazards, according to a Thursday notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The recalled "10-Liter" and "15-Liter" minifridges have an electric switch that can short circuit. "On some older units, the selector switch that toggles between Cooling and Warming modes can overheat," Cooluli said on its website.
The CPSC said it has received at least 19 reports of the products smoking, sparking, burning, melting, overheating or catching fire. Those incidents have caused more than $80,000 in property damage, and one customer reported smoke inhalation.
The recall covers minifridges sold on Cooluli's website and on Amazon between January 2019 and October 2024, priced between $80 and $120. Only certain models of the 10-Liter and 15-Liter fridges with an internal power supply are affected.
"This is limited to specific older production batches, so most Cooluli refrigerators aren't affected," the company said, adding that newer fridges with an external power supply are not part of the recall.
Cooluli, founded in Brooklyn, New York, said it will send affected customers a free repair kit. Consumers must visit the company's website to check their model number, and if their unit is covered, follow instructions to cut the power cord and submit photos to request a free replacement.
In the meantime, the CPSC is urging consumers to stop using the recalled fridges immediately.
