College Student Fatally Shot by Police at Wrong Door

A 22-year-old college student was fatally shot by police over the weekend after he accidentally knocked on the wrong door of a home in Upper Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, and his parents are now demanding answers.

Glenn Pysher, known to family and friends as Bubba, had spent Saturday night with friends at a local bar. When the group decided to move to a nearby house, Pysher walked there alone and knocked on the wrong door, according to his mother, Erin Pysher, who believes he got "mixed up" because the house sits in a wooded area.

The homeowners called 911 to report an attempted break-in. Police arrived early Sunday and found Pysher at the back of the home. The Montgomery County District Attorney's Office said an encounter followed in which Pysher was shot and killed. The Upper Pottsgrove Police Department has not released details about the shooting, saying only that it remains under investigation.

Erin Pysher said phone records show her son was talking with friends at 12:32 a.m. and that police had already shot him within minutes. "No Taser. No nothing. Automatic deadly force," she said, adding that the family has heard nothing from the police department. The Montgomery County Detective Bureau did not respond to a request for comment.

"I just want things to be done right. I want to know the facts," said his father, Glenwood Pysher.

Erin Pysher said her son loved baseball and had recently transferred to Saint Elizabeth University in Florham Park, New Jersey, where he was set to begin classes Monday. "I was going to take him to school and help him set up his dorm room," she said. "It's unreal ... It's hard to breathe."

Glenwood Pysher described his son as "such a good kid" who "wouldn't hurt a fly."
